FIFA with Three Monitors – The Professional Solution
Sitting on the couch in front of the television playing FIFA with your buddies – it’s certainly comfortable, but it’s not the perfect setup for competitive gaming. EIZO worked together with FIFA professional Timo ‘TimoX’ Siep of VfL Wolfsburg to create a three-monitor setup for FIFA game play. EIZO developed a setup for him using three EIZO FS2434 monitors. Then Timo played a round and shared his impressions with us.
FIFA Runner-up TimoX
Timo is one of the world’s best FIFA players. He roughly considers himself to be one of the top ten, and he won second place at the last ESWC. He has also qualified for the regional offline tournament in the current FIFA Interactive World Cup.
The FIFA Interactive World Cup, or the ESWC, players need the best possible setup to get their chance at the title for tournaments such as the ESL Championship. And the home training setups of the e-Sport athletes are just as important.
"You don’t have to look at the little overview screen anymore to get a general overview of the field – and especially for long shots. This way you can immediately see opportunities for plays. It’s a great advantage, both in an offensive and a defensive position.”

Televisions vs. Monitors
There is a very important reason why the event organizers use monitors instead of televisions in their tournaments. The performance of the players is paramount at these tournaments, and by providing the right types of monitors, organizers can help players perform their best.
“Monitors are better than televisions in every possible way – apart from the size –and that offers a lot of advantages with FIFA, as well,” explains TimoX. For example, response time tends to be better with monitors and that is a crucial factor with competitive gaming.
The EIZO FS2434 has a particularly low input lag, which means that the signals from the gaming controller are quickly incorporated into the game, and, of course, displayed on the screen. This is perfect for professional players and excellent for a three-monitor setup. “It’s so much nicer to play on a good monitor,” says TimoX.
Overview and Performance – The Three-monitor Setup
The best part of the three-monitor setup is that it combines all of the advantages of the monitor with the screen size of a television. In fact, the total area is wider than a television screen, allowing players to view the entire field.
TimoX sees a clear advantage of the three-monitor setup: “You don’t have to look at the little overview screen anymore to get a general overview of the field – and especially for long shots. This way you can immediately see opportunities for plays. It’s a great advantage, both in an offensive and a defensive position.”
“If you take FIFA seriously, you have to train on a monitor, and if you’ve got the cash, a three-monitor setup is really cool,” says TimoX.
