Thanks to its DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) resolution, the ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 accurately displays both very light and very dark areas on its 31.1-inch display without compromising the integrity of the colours and highlights. It achieves a maximum brightness of 1000 Nits (typical) and a contrast ratio von 1,000,000:1 for true HDR display.

The EIZO reference monitor supports HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) and PQ curves (Perceptual Quantization) for the editing of television content, films and other video content in HDR. Both the HLG and PQ curves as well as the brightness are precisely calibrated to reference class 1 level. The entire reference calibration includes standards such as: BT.2020, BT.709, DCI-P3, PQ BT.2100, PQ DCI-P3 and HLG BT.2100.

A reference monitor must offer reliable brightness, colour reproduction and luminance characteristic curve (EOTF) at all times. To ensure this reliability, the ColorEdge PROMINENCE is the world’s first HDR reference monitor to be equipped with a built-in calibration sensor. It provides fully automated recalibration in reference quality and as well as project-specific calibrations. The lossless hardware calibration in the monitor’s 24-bit 3D LUT (look-up-table) ensures that colours are always displayed with pin-point accuracy. The recalibration can even be set so that CG3146 automatically recalibrates itself at certain times. This can be overnight or at the weekend so that the creative work isn’t interrupted during the rest of the time.

The ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 is equipped with a temperature sensor to make sure that gradations, colours, brightness and other characteristics are always displayed with total accuracy, even if the ambient temperature changes. It precisely measures the monitor’s internal temperature while an AI algorithm differentiates between different temperature change patters and calculates a precise adjustment in real time. DUE technology (Digital Uniformity Equalizer) developed by EIZO ensures precision across the entire screen, while the DUE control also compensates for temperature deviations.

The CG3146 has a knob on its bezel that can be used to customise the monitor settings to your needs, such as by assigning it to the brightness settings, making navigation quick and easy. The monitor’s defaults settings include numerous functions such as Aspect Marker, Blue Only, Gamut and Brightness Warning, as well as Clipping and D65 (CRT) Support.
